Over 6.1 million students attend classes nationwide on the first and second days of 2025-2026 academic year

According to the Ministry of Education, over 6.1 million students attended schools nationwide on the opening day of 2025-2026 academic year.
The basic education schools and monastic schools for the 2025-2026 academic year opened in regions and states across the country, including Naypyidaw Council Area, from June 3, 2025.
On the first of opening basic schools on June 3, a total of 6,119,260 students attended in basic education schools, monastic schools, and private schools across the nation and also in Naypyitaw Council Area.
For the 2025-2026 academic year, at the time of enrolment, primary, middle, and high school students were provided with free textbooks, exercise books, and stationery and KG and primary school students were also provided with free school uniforms.
