Agro-based textile industrial complex to launch at Shwetaung factory this year

An official from the Ministry of Industry told The Statesman that the construction of an Agro-based textile industrial complex at Shwetaung No. 1 Textile Factory in Pyay Township, Bago Region will begin this year.
The Ministry of Industry has invited proposals from developers interested in investing in the construction of an Agro-based textile industrial complex on 258 acres of land at Shwetaung No. 1 Textile Factory.
"We have been working on this project for a long time. Most of the technical aspects have been completed. We will call for tenders. The first phase, the Pilot Project, will be implemented this year," he said.
The official continued that once the project is completed, it will benefit tens of thousands of people in the region, especially cotton farmers, cotton-fibre manufacturers, and textile manufacturers.
“Once the project is completed, it will create job opportunities for tens of thousands of people. This [supply] chain will also reach the farmers, so more cotton and linen will be produced as direct benefits. Indirectly, it will also benefit cotton growers. It will benefit all cotton growers, yarn producers and linen producers in this entire region. This project can be said to be beneficiail to the people of the entire region,” he said.
This project will be implemented in three phases. The first phase will include textile training schools, an industrial zone conference hall, product showrooms, and laboratories.
Planned structures for phase two are bleaching, dyeing, and printing factories, and phase three will include textile factories, weaving factories, storage facilities, logistics centers, industrial zone management, Delayer Fire Fighting System amulet, industrial solid waste management: recreation center, and trainee/staff dormitories. –
