Voter education will be conducted simultaneously in three Rakhine Townships

Rakhine State government spokesman State Advocate-General U Hla Thein told The Statesman that education about the voting system will be conducted simultaneously in the three townships where elections will be held in Rakhine State.
He said that the voting machine system has been demonstrated to the public once in Sittwe, Kyaukphyu, and Munaung townships in Rakhine State, and that starting this month, awareness-raising activities will be held simultaneously in all three townships for two or three days a week.
“We are working with the State Election Commission to demonstrate the voting system to the people. We have to do it this month in all three townships at the same time. We will train the people to vote two or three days a week. We will train them to get experience with the voting machines,” said U Hla Thein.
In addition, he said, the State Government will take steps to ensure the safety of elections in Rakhine State.
“The State Government must take the necessary measures to protect the election from sabotage, and take action if it occurs. The Government is working with relevant individuals to prevent the destruction of polling stations and election-related equipment, the obstruction of voters, and the harassment of campaign representati ves,” U Hla Thein added.
He said that, currently, communication lines in Munaung Township, Rakhine State are not completely cut off as there are some areas where phone lines are available, and there has been no loss of communication along the admini strative route. –
