The IBEC relief center, located at the International Buddhist Education Centre (IBEC) on Sagaing Hill in Sagaing Region, will provide assistance, including psychological counseling, to those affected by the earthquake.
It is reported that the IBEC Sayadaw is planning to provide assistance to individuals affected by the earthquake, including those who have sustained injuries or disabilities, those in need of rehabilitation, those facing mobility challenges due to the loss or damage of assistive devices, those in need of emotional counseling, and individuals suffering from psychological distress caused by the traumatic events.
The program will provide physical rehabilitation, musculoskeletal exercises, support for assistive devices (mobility aids, crutches, walking sticks), training in the use of assistive devices, and psychological counseling.
IBEC Sayadaw Dr Ashin Sobhita stated that “many people are suffering from emotional trauma and physical injuries due to the earthquake. In response, the IBEC Relief Center is providing training to philanthropists, religious leaders, teachers, and community leaders on how to effectively support and engage with those affected."
IBEC Sayadaw also mentioned that IBEC is partnering with a Nepal-based organization to provide treatment for those who have become disabled, individuals with hearing impairments, and those experiencing psychological trauma due to the earthquake.
Therefore, monks, nuns, and people (regardless of race or religion) who wish to receive treatment can come and register at the IBEC temple and will be contacted to inform them of the start date of implementation.
