Pyin Oo Lwin City potential to develop into a Sports City, says SAC Chairman

Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has stated that Pyin Oo Lwin has already possessed favorable conditions to function as a sports city.
The Chairman made these remarks during a coordination meeting on water supply, agriculture, and greening projects held at the meeting hall of National Landmarks Garden in Pyin Oo Lwin on June 9.
He stated that Pyin Oo Lwin city has good conditions to operate as a sports city hosting football matches, cycling races, and other sports events.
Therefore, he emphasized the necessity to systematically include sports fields and facilities in the town planning process.
Furthermore, he highlighted the need to implement measures to develop Pyin Oo Lwin as a Green City, Clean City, and Smart City ensuring forest coverage around the city, forest conservation and forest restoration effectively.
He noted that it is primarily the responsibility of the residents and those currently serving duties in the area to take the lead regarding the development of the region while the State will provide necessary support and assistance.
He also mentioned the need to establish an Elder Body consisting of eldery individuals who were born and have long lived in Pyin Oo Lwin in order to help preserve the local traditions and heritage of the region offering advice on the matters essential for the development of the region.
