3 killed, 25 injured in KNLA, PDF assault on Bago Region

In Wegyi (South) village, Phyu Township, Bago Region, an attack carried out by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the PDF using both heavy and small weapons left three people dead including a child and injured 25 others, according to state-owned reports.
The assault took place around 5:20 am on June 29, when KNLA and PDF forces attacked the village with various types of weapons before retreating toward Thaungpu village.
Among those killed by shrapnel from the explosions were 7-year-old Mg Zwe Pyae, 56-year-old Daw Khin Aye Su, and 35-year-old Daw Thida Oo. Another 25 villagers sustained injuries caused by both explosions and gunfire.
The deceased and injured individuals were taken to Phyu Township General Hospital for treatment.
Security forces, working together with local residents, are stepping up efforts to track down and apprehend the KNLA and PDF members responsible for the assault on this civilian area. Actions are also being implemented to restore stability and ensure the safety of residents and their property in the region.
