Sending MoU workers from Myanmar through Myawaddy-Mae Sot route temporarily suspended

According to the Department of Labour Relations of the Ministry of Labour, sending MoU workers from Myanmar to Thailand via Myawaddy-Mae Sot route has been suspended since 19 December.
Myanmar Oversea Employment Agency Federation (MOEAF), licensed oversea employment agencies (Thailand) are sending Myanmar MoU workers to Thailand via the Myawady-Mae Sot route and Kawthoung-Ranong route.
The report states that the situations on the Myawady-Mae Sot route do not favour for sending workers from Myanmar to Thailand since armed conflict has been intense along the Asia Highway path. Therefore, difficulties have been encountered passing through it.
“We temporarily stop sending workers by using Myawady-Mae Sot road transportation since the Asia Highway has been blocked. We are talking to send the workers via aviation,” the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Labour, U Nyunt Win said.
Although, sending the MoU workers from Myanmar via the Myawady-Mae Sot route has been temporarily suspended, some will continued be sent through the Kawthoung-Ranong route as usual.
