Locals in Myitkyina, Kachin State, held a protest on the morning of February 27 to strongly protest the KIA attack on Myitkyina Airport.
On February 20, a Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) passenger plane was preparing to depart from Myitkyina Airport to Mandalay when it was attacked by KIA and PDF groups using FPV suicide drones.
In the incident, the aircraft sustained minor damage after being struck by bomb fragments on the nose section, the mid-fuselage, and the tail.
Therefore, on February 27, around 30 residents held a protest holding signs that read, “We oppose the targeting of civilian targets,” “We strongly condemn the attack on Myitkyina Airport by FVP suicide drones without prioritizing the lives of the people,” and “We do not want terrorist attacks on civilian targets.”
“They attacked the airport. No resident likes this kind of terrorist action. That’s why we are protesting. We are protesting in front of the airport,” a local told the Statesman Journal.
